This book consists of online profile pictures appropriated from gay dating apps, collected by the American photographer, Dan Larkin, over the past several years. Larkin has transformed them into unrecognizable ‘portraits’ where form, gesture and body language depict varying types of masculinity. When generously down-sampled they became anonymous and question how digital photography is able to foster human interaction. This collection shows how men present themselves ranges from the stereotypically obvious to perhaps unintentionally humorous.
